Great Writers: Miyamoto Musashi
Miyamoto Musashi was a Japanese swordsman, considered a "sword saint", with an undefeated record of 62 duels.
His father, according to Wikipedia, was already an accomplished martial artist. Even his grandfather was a retainer of an important lord in a Japanese province. Musashi himself "never took a wife, cut his hair, or entered a bath".
If you like movies, there is a biographical trilogy starring Toshiro Mifune and directed by Hiroshi Inagaki, released in the early 1950s. Perhaps his most difficult duel was the one portrayed in the final one, against Sasaki Kojiro. A duel on Ganryu Island, with a year of preparation and hundreds of spectators.
Later in life, suffering from neuralgia -perhaps caused by the injuries he sustained in combat- he retired to a cave and wrote down the teachings he had gathered throughout his life.
So this is the greatness of books
You should know the saying: "We are the average of the seven people we spend the most time with".
It doesn't seem like a bad idea, then, to spend some time listening to the words and thoughts of one of history's greatest samurai.
